Week #28

How far along: 28 weeks!
Total weight gain: I go back to my midwife tomorrow.. so I'll let ya know next week!
Maternity clothes: Oh indeed... Look at the belly?!!!
Stretch marks: No new ones!
Sleep: It's getting better. I wait till baby E stops tumbling around and then I fall asleep before he starts up again. haha
Best moment of this week: Honestly, nothing. I took my glucose test last week and the test came a bit high so tomorrow I have to have a 3 hour glucose test and many more blood test to see if I do indeed have gestational diabetes. I really hope I don't. I don't want anything keeping me from having the birth I want and a healthy son. fingers crossed because I'm nervous as hell for tomorrow.
Miss anything: walking normally and not being so out of breath.
Movement: SO much movement.  In my ribs or on my bladder.. he loves to move!
Food cravings: Kettle popcorn. YUM!
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing really. Although I almost lost my breakfast inhaling cigarette smoke at Walmart. Can't smokers go somewhere else than right in front of the entrance? UGH.
Have you started to show yet: Duh
Gender: Boy!!
Labor signs: Still just the Braxton Hicks. Lot's of back pain and muscle pain....
Belly button in or out: The top half of my belly button is out, bottom half is now starting to finally creep on out- I find it so amusing to touch. It's so soft! lol.
Wedding rings on or off: Off. Fingers are just swollen. And now my feet are too.
Happy or moody most of the time: Delighted. Nursery is almost done!!!
Looking forward to: Seeing this beautiful boy's face!!! <3

28 weeks pregnant

"Moms-to-be who are at 28 weeks and beyond are known for their lack of sleep. Remember if you find yourself up in the middle of the night, do something relaxing. This is not the time to vacuum the house from top to bottom -- even though you might feel the urge to do that at some point. Read a book, drink chamomile tea, listen to soothing music. Then try to get back to bed and get some rest! Being in the third trimester also means much of your and baby’s anatomy are ready to go -- she's prepping for breathing, and your breasts already have colostrum, which is what baby will eat the first few days until your milk comes in. You’ll also start feeling more Braxton Hicks contractions as your body gets ready for labor. Baby will keep getting bigger -- and smarter -- after week 28, and other than that, she just needs a few more finishing touches." - thebump.com

Your baby's the size of an eggplant!
Putting on layers of fat, your baby now weighs in around 1.5 to 2.5 pounds and measures about 13.6 to 14.8 inches.

your baby at 28 weeks
  • She's starting to develop more fat, so her wrinkly skin will start to get smoother.
  • Her lungs are mature enough that she'd probably survive if she was born now.

  • Trouble sleeping. As you get closer to your due date, you'll likely have more and more trouble with this. It could be hormones or nerves -- or both!
  • Shortness of breath, as baby continues to crowd your lungs.
  • Aches and pains -- the third trimester can be really uncomfortable due to hormone fluctuations and the toll on your body.
  • Braxton Hicks contractions -- these might be getting stronger or more frequent as your bod gets ready for labor.
  • Leaky boobs. Your breasts may already be producing baby's first food, a yellowish substance called colostrum.
