Week #14

How far along? 14 weeks!

Total weight gain/loss: No idea. I'll find out Thursday when I see my midwife

Maternity clothes? Oh.. yea. I'm wearing my maternity jeans in the photos. The first photo shows how my shirts are starting to rise up on my stomach. lol

Stretch marks? No new ones

Best moment this week:  Going out to lunch with Jared at Olive Garden. lol. YUM.

Miss anything: Not feeling so sick at night. And being miserable at night.

Movement: No

Food cravings: Sherbert. I bought some at Walmart. Well, Jared did for me. He's really good at letting me get my cravings.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Jared chewing tobacco and the kitchen. I start dry heaving. kinda gross.

Have you started to show yet: YES.

Gender: No idea. I can't wait to find out though on Feb. 9th!

Labor Signs: No, no, no!

Belly Button in or out? In but my belly feels so tight.

Wedding rings on or off? On! but today my wrists and fingers were pretty swollen.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Good!

Looking forward toMidwife appointment on Thursday and then gender reveal on Feb. 9th! Woo Hoo!

your baby's the size of a lemon!
At week 14, your baby is 3.4 inches and 1.5 ounces, he's almost doubled in weight since last week and keeps on growing.

"Hungry much? Now that you’re not feeling so queasy, you’re probably enjoying eating. A lot. Plus, you’re fueling baby’s growth -- which is happening at super speed at 14 weeks. Be sure to keep plenty of healthy snacks by your side just in case you get the munchies. It’s important -- for you and for baby -- that you don’t indulge in too many greasy, fatty foods, so you’re both getting the right nutrients. (Of course, the occasional bowl of ice cream is totally okay.) And we just wanted to remind you: eating for two doesn’t mean doubling your calorie intake. Not only have you gotten your appetite back at week 14, but you’ve probably also gotten some of your energy back, too. If you found yourself shying away from exercise during trimester one, it’s time to get back on track. Go take a walk!"
- thebump.com

Not so queasy? HAHHA. I'm only getting worse!
                                        your baby at 14 weeks
  • He's probably sucking his thumb and wiggling his toes in there!
  • His kidneys are making urine, and his liver and spleen are doing their jobs, too.
  • And he's growing lanugo, a thin, peach-fuzz-like hair, all over his body -- it will help him keep warm!

*We got our crib, dresser/hutch, glider, and ottoman this weekend! I'm so excited to get everything up. :)

We also made our down payment for the custom crib bedding. We have our place on the waiting list now!!

Left one if it's a boy and right if it's a girl.
RockerByeBaby on Etsy.com is amazing at what she does!

That's it!!!

Week #13

Seriously? Where did the time go? 2nd Trimester already?

How far along? 13weeks. Time has flown by way too fast.

Total weight gain/loss: No idea. We'll see at the end of the month

Maternity clothes? Yes. One pair of maternity jeans and bought the shirt in the photo above..a simple long sleeve black tee.

Stretch marks? Not yet

Best moment this week:  Offically in the 2nd trimester now matter who thinks what.(Some say 12 weeks, others say 13 weeks)

Miss anything: Having energy. Last night I slept till 3pm(started out as a nap) woke up to take a 5 minute shower at 12am and went straight back in bed till 5am! Thats almost 14hours!

Movement: No.

Food cravings: Fruit. but that's causing acid reflux. And tamales

Anything making you queasy or sick: I really don't know. my new symptom is random gagging. I'll be walking around or just sitting in bed and have a huge urge to gag till it makes my eyes water and stomach muscles strain. ... it's awful.

Have you started to show yet: YES.

Gender: No idea. I can't wait to find out though. We made the appointment to find out on Feb. 9th!!

Labor Signs: No, no, no!

Belly Button in or out? In. But it's sore. I will have to take out my piercing soon.

Wedding rings on or off? On! But only in public.. anything tight on me is irritating.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Content. Just really tired

Looking forward toMidwife appointment on the 31st. And finding out the gender. I'm really excited!

*********************************************************************************************

"You’ve completed one whole third of your pregnancy -- and the reputed toughest one at that. You’ve grown a fetus that has vocal cords, teeth and even fingerprints (wow!) and you probably kept this incredible news (mostly) secret while you constantly wished you could shout it from the rooftops -- or, at the very least, use it as an excuse for getting to work late. It’s about this time that many parents-to-be start spreading the word (to more people than just close family and friends) that there’s a baby on the way. But know that there are no hard and fast rules about when you should divulge your secret. It could be after your next prenatal doctor visit, once you start showing or at a big family event where everyone will be gathered. Or maybe everyone already knows! That’s totally your call." - TheBump.com

your baby's the size of a peach!
She's about 2.9 inches long and weighs about .81 ounces, and -- proportion-wise -- her head's now about 1/3 the size of her body.

                                           your baby at 13 weeks
  • Can you believe she's forming vocal cords and teeth?!
  • And even though she's still teeny, she already has fingerprints.
  • Her intestines are moving from the umbilical cord to their more permanent place, in her tummy.

Tum Tum's say's hello!

Week #12

I was showing Jared the pageant kiss! LOL.

How far along? 12 weeks! Woo Hoo!

Total weight gain/loss: Up 5lbs.

Maternity clothes? I finally got my maternity jeans. I went to Target since I had a $5 off coupon or a certain brand there. $29.00! AND - I'm 2 sizes smaller than I am in regular jeans. lol

Stretch marks? No new ones. But it's in my genetics to get em'. And Jared and I really can care less. It shows I'm a mother.

Best moment this week:  Entering my 2nd trimester. How EXCITING!

Miss anything: Sleeping comfortable...Sleeping in general. I still get sick at night. My sickness is still slight nausea and acid reflux really bad. I'm having to sit straight up or walk around my house... Not what I want to do. So I get my sleeping done during the day when I feel better.

Movement: No

Food cravings: Steak. And Ice Water.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Diesel fluid!

Have you started to show yet: YES.

Gender: No idea. I can't wait to find out though.

Labor Signs: No, no, no!

Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On!

Happy or Moody most of the time: Content. I was really excited to start baby shopping which we start to get a few things.

Looking forward to: My next midwife appointment at the end of this month.

_________________________________________________________________________________
your baby's the size of a plum!
The average fetus at 12 weeks is about 2.1 inches long and .49 ounces. Now that she's got pretty much all her parts, her main job is to keep on growing.

"One warning: your morning sickness and fatigue might get replaced by headaches and dizziness. But we think that’s a reasonable trade-off. The other big change? Baby’s almost done developing her body’s important systems and parts, which means, it’s mostly about getting bigger and more mature from here on out. Around week 12, you might want to know more about baby, so you’re probably having genetic testing done to determine her risk of birth defects or other problems. This can be a little scary -- and confusing -- so be sure to ask your OB plenty of questions, and know that it’s much more likely baby’s A-OK than anything else."

                                       your baby at 12 weeks
  • Most of her critical systems are fully formed!
  • She's about to enter the growth and maturation stage, in which her organs and tissues will grow and develop rapidly.
  • She's now developing her reflexes -- if you poke her body, she'll likely move.
  • She's opening and closing her fingers and curling her toes, too.
  • Her brain is developing fast!

On another note, It's been raining so everyone has to stay inside. Chaos I tell ya! xoxox

My Irritations as a Pregnant Lady

1.) People who say "Having babies seems to be a trend these days"

Really? A trend? Funny, I thought people were having babies since, I don't know, THE BEGINNING OF EXISTENCE. Jared and I are not teenagers. I did not get knocked up. We are married and adults who thought long and hard about the decision to TRY to conceive. We did not get pregnant based of a trend. But when you are married, in love, have the time, love, and finances...You make babies. That's what people do. So stop being rude and make nonchalant remarks on "being trendy by having a baby". I'm really sorry you're my age and still living with mom and dad, no job, and still drinking, partying, and smoking pot and no direction in life. But I will never apologize for growing up and becoming an adult with a dream of having a family.

2.) People that don't understand my philosophy of parenting.
Photo: (Quote in poster from http://www.spiritofilithyia.com/primitive-disconnect-parenting/ By, Kathi)

For some...not all...we hide ourselves in order to breastfeed our child. In public, around friends, perhaps around some family. But this is to respect the feelings of those who are uncomfortable with normal infant feeding. For some...not all...we choose to safely share our sleep with our nurslings. But, shhhhh! don't let anyone know, they will think we are endangering or spoiling or coddling our young. And for some....not all...we choose to wear and hold our babies. Keeping them close. We pick them up when they reach for us, cry for us, and any time they need us. But we have to ignore the well-meaning words from loved ones telling us we will create a spoiled and overly dependent being..."let that baby cry a little"..."don't you ever put that baby down?"
Breastfeeding, co-sleeping, baby-wearing, positively responding...inside of ourselves it seems right. We do it. Sometimes we keep it secret. Really though, we want to scream to the world how joyous and beautiful all of this is. How it feels so right.
But what feels so right is just not normal in our modern day society. Not in this culture. Not in 2013.
There are no whispers, dirty looks or any media hype on that baby left in the stroller (or in the bouncer, floor, crib) with a rolled blanket underneath the bottle in order for it to be propped...while mommy is doing something...more important. This is what is acceptable.? There is no shame in priding ones accomplishment with forcing independence on a baby or child, explaining how it took just one hour of torturous crying screams everyday for a week. "It worked". So it's okay.? This is whats acceptable.?
The list could go on and on, but it will have to end here. It is pretty sad how disconnected our society really is. People really believe it is for the well-being of our children to keep them at a distance when they are so young. So they can grow up to be prepared for the reality of the world. So it's less work and easier for the parents. Ever think just how hard it is for babies and children? Maybe just maybe, if we changed our views on how we care for our little human beings and realize or accept what is biologically normal for them (and for us) as parents...they could grow up to be prepared for a new kind of reality in the world. A world filled with lots more Compassion. Patience. Love. Peace.
I'm sorry that I don't find formula feeding, the CIO method, spanking, strollers, and all the modern ways of parenting okay for myself and my child.
Yes, I LOVE the idea to breast feeding. Nothing compares to it's bonding and nutrition value. I'm not sorry I rather understand why my child is crying verses letting them cry alone. Your child cries because THEY NEED you or something from you. Babies do not know manipulation. They are crying for a reason. It's MY OPINION that the "cry it out method" is absolutely fucking cruel.
And I'm really not sorry for wanting to use attachment parenting rather than trying to push my child away from me at the age of birth. I want the bond, and closeness to my child. I will be wearing my baby. I will be comforting my child. It's natural. Not weird. Strollers are weird.
I am not sorry for wanting to practice co sleeping for the first few months of my childs life. My child only know my heartbeat, my comfort, my body as a source of relaxation. I will not be throwing my child alone in a crib and allowing my child to comfort him/herself. IN MY OPINION, that's fucking cruel.

3.) Unsolicited advice.

Fucking stop it. Don't try to sway my views because they are different from your ways of parenting.
I will be breastfeeding. I will never allow formula to touch my childs lips. Whether it's my own breastmilk or breast milk from a milk bank.. I will never put formula around my children.
I will be cloth diapering and using cloth wipes. I will never allow chemical filled disposables near my childs genitals and skin. Whether it's prefolds or AIO's. It's my choice as a mother to use organic natural fibers for my child.
I will be practicing attachment parenting. I will put my child in a sling/wrap/carrier verses a stroller anyday. It's my choice as a mother to have a close bond with my baby and have that skin to skin contact as a newborn. Don't question me as a mother on why I'm not particularly thrilled about buying a stroller. My choice. Not something you need to advise me on.
I will be having a drug free labor and gentle birth in a water tub. It's my choice not to fill my body with drugs that can harm my child. It's my choice not to have birth in a hospital. Hospitals are for sick people. I am not sick. I am a woman that has a body that's solely designed to birth a child. I will birth my child in water. My child will not drown so please stop asking that. I will be delaying cord clamping till my placenta is birthed. I will opted out on many modern medical interference with my child as I feel that skin to skin contact is the upt most important. It's my body. It's my labor.

Do you really believe that all of a sudden in the last 50 years of humanity, women can’t birth their babies on their own without medicine to induce labor?

Love this. So many woman do not research anything when it comes to what's going into your body during labor.

Stop telling me that because of the choices I've made, I'm going to be unnecessarily tired, overwhelmed, and  that my choices are weird and pointless. Just because YOU decided to follow the modern way to parent.. doesn't mean my natural instincts as a mother are wrong.

One thing that I want to clear the air on, I did NOT get pregnant on accident. This was a planned pregnancy. Therefore, I've done extensive research through talking to people, looking online, buying books, etc. My plans are well thought out. My beliefs are well established. So stop with the comments. Stop with the unsolicited advice. Because I guarantee you, I can only be nice for so long before I start telling some of you to shut the fuck up.

I'm confident. Not overwhelmed. I'm at peace with my life and happy. You may not have been confident with your decisions but my husband and I are on the exact page with everything. Their is no war here about this child.

Let It Be.

Part 2: The Girly Stuff

This is a handmade "pillow case" dress off ebay. It's Snoopy themed with I'm obsessed with and Christmas attire. :) $1.00 steal.
I'm also obsessed with baby vintage. I have found the most adorable dresses and sweaters that are true vintage. Absolutely adorable and to die for. I may use these as decoration as well for a nursery.. if it's a girl. These were found on Ebay, Vintage Stores, etc.
All Gap 0-3 months except the frog one which is Carters.
Old Navy. 3 months. $3.00! It's a thick winter jacket.
3 are Gap which I found for $1 each and the last two are from Target on sale for $1.50
Anything Cowgirl or Juicy Couture and I'm buying. lol
Some of these had tags on and they were 50 cents each! Little diaper covers!
I'm also a huge fan of anything nautical. It's a 0-3 month bathing suit. :)
Etsy find. Can't remember the store. It's three burb/wipe clothes and a blanket. It's so cute!
Carhartt and John Deere socks and other Target socks.
I have enough girl hats. I don't need anymore although, I'm a sucker for the homemade knitted ones.
I found this in a vintage store in Sweetwater, TN. It's a really delicate vintage sweater that I think I scored for $8.00. Again anything vintage, I love!
 Target Sale!
The cupcake one will get used A LOT.
Target Sale again. Whenever we go to Target, I've always scanned the baby clothes clearance rack and thrown the good steals in my cart. lol
This is a gap dress. I love the sewn in flowers and jewels.
 Walmart sale onesie.
This might be a going home onesie. It's Old Navy and I just think it's so cute.
Headbands! Every girl needs some hair flowers! Ebay find.
These are hand kitted sweaters. Random Sizes. Vintage. And I'm In love. One is a pair of footy pants.
I don't really buy anything over 12 months because Jared finds it ridiculous that we were buying things before getting pregnant and now not knowing what we are having BUT if I find a steal and a thrift store.. like a Laura Ashley Romper that looks brand new? I'm getting it. It's a 4t but I love this shabby chic-ness.
 More pants. Target finds.

I normally find two piece bathing suits on a baby really trashy and ridiculous but this was such a cute print.. and it's Old Navy. lol
6-12 months. I'm loving that leopard.
These are newborn onesies. I'm having a summer baby in TN so these will be perfect in 110 degree weather.
 Tennessee dress! Ebay find!
$6.00 on major sale. It's a John Deere onesie and then a dress/skirt.
These are two skirts with shorts in them. Target sale!

These are Christmas outfits! They are gender neutral and will fit this baby by Christmas 2013. So crazy to think about.
This is my first buy ever! Ebay find. It's a cowgirl dress!!!
 Tennessee spirit!
 Adorable cowgirl sweatshirt.
Swaddlers! I still need more of these!!

And little dresses with bloomers.

That's it for the girl stuff!
I cannot wait to find out what this baby is!!!!
